Cryptomeria japonica ‘Sekkan’ (Japanese Cedar Sekkan Sugi) is a handsome and fast growing evergreen.  This bold, pyramidal tree grows 12-15” per year until it reaches roughly 25 feet tall by 12 feet wide. This cryptomeria makes a perfect addition to the conifer garden, or it can be used as a specimen in the landscape and as a screening plant.

New growth emerges yellow, making a striking contrast with the darker green existing foliage. Plant in full sun to light shade in well-draining, slightly acidic soil.  Plants require minimal pruning and once established will only need occasional watering in dry spells.

In autumn and winter, plants feature small brown cones on the tips of branches for year-round interest.
