Dark Fire is a mid size Loropetalum with a spreading habit. Pink flowers appear in early spring and often again in fall. The evergreen leaves are dark purple and retain their deep color even in the heat of August. It was bred by Ted Stevens of Nurseries Caroliniana in South Carolina but never marketed. When Ted’s nursery closed, Richard Currin rescued it and has made it available from his Willow Spring nursery. We are happy to have our hands on this fantastic “new” plant! Dark Fire makes a great tall foundation plant or hedge as well as a handsome specimen. It is a beautiful foil for blue or yellow foliaged plants.
Plant in full sun to part shade. Plant will adapt to most soil conditions, except boggy ones. Learn more about Loropetalum here.
